Job Purpose: 
The purpose of the Nordic Medical Franchise Head role is to coordinate the medical activities to support the integrated sales, marketing and medical activities for a Franchise, including overall responsibility of the medical strategic plan and phase IV budget for that Franchise. The person manage the Franchise associates to drive Novartis message delivery to key influencers and stakeholders in Oncology and collaborate with country/regional and global team members in the execution of relevant clinical activities in assigned projects. 

Key Responsibilities: 
• Be responsible for medical success of development projects and local clinical trials within the Franchise in the Nordics. 
• Drive Medical Affairs in the Nordic business franchise and ensure alignment between global project strategy & local CPO needs. 
• Lead a team of Nordic Medical Disease Area Leads, Nordic Medical Affairs Team Leader & country Medical Advisors. 
• Ensure retention of talents by engaging, motivating, developing and coaching individuals and teams to realize their maximum performance and potential. 
• To leverage the team’s knowledge (both functional and cross-functional), skill-set and competencies to deliver the right solution to the right patient relative to their own particular regional/national environment. 
• To the take the full responsibility for conducting individual performance appraisals and for the coaching in the field. 
• Strategically prepare and support the development, launch and commercialization of drug products through education of Medical Experts/ Key Stakeholders, clinical trial support, and by the scientific exchange seeking external insight to shape Novartis commercial and development programs. 
• Provide broad and deep understanding of the therapeutic area cross-functionally. 
• Seen as a credible medical and scientific expert by internal and external customers. 
• Oversee all local medical and scientific contributions to global clinical development programs. 
• Work cross-functionally with other Novartis departments to develop aligned strategic plans, including the need for Real World Evidence (RWE), for the optimal dissemination of clinical evidence by the team in pre and post product launch phases in accordance to local health authority guidelines. 
• Provide strategic and tactical guidance for clinical teams and allied department in the Nordics. 
• Contribute senior level expertise for projects as member of relevant local management boards as per assignment. 
• Actively ensure quality of local study protocols, study reports, summaries and publications from Post Phase III activities. 
• Oversee together with DS&E local clinical trial adverse event reporting as well as clinical input and oversight into adherence to GCP together with GMO. 
• Ensure the right mix of Medical Experts in investigators selected for local and global studies. 
• Collaborate actively with Marketing, Sales and Market Access/RWE partners to ensure development and implementation of the strategic product plan.

The ideal candidate will have: 
• Medically qualified and registered physician or PhD/PharmD 
• Higher medical qualification or science degree preferred 
• More than 5 years’ experience in clinical medicine and/or clinical research (preferred) 
• Substantial experience from working in Medical Affairs roles in a large-scale company 
• 5-10 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including strong people leadership and project management track record 
• Good cross-functional understanding, ability to operate in a matrix, and business drive 
• Knowledge of the indication oncology (preferred) 
• Good planning and organisational skills 
• Fluent in English - local language is not a requirement
